Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Astros are the best team in Major League Baseball and they don’t even worry about it right now.

Reliever Ken Giles joined Mad Radio with Mike Meltser and Seth Payne, Alex Del Barrio was filling in for a vacationing Meltser, on Wednesday on SportsRadio 610 and said the team is very loose.

“We’re just out there to have a good time,” Giles said. “I think that is the biggest thing. Our veteran presence has set the tone for us.

“Just go out there and have a good time because you never know what’s going to happen the next day. If you go out there and you do well, that’s great. If you don’t do so well, but you have a good time and you’re having fun at the same time, it’s alright, it’s all good. Don’t let the bad days drag you down.”

Part of that good time the team is having is the Championship Belts the team hands out to their best player of the game and best pitcher of the game in each win. Unless you’re Josh Reddick, then you always have a belt.

“It’s like the highlight of the day,” Giles told Seth and Alex. “When we get that W that is the highlight. Everyone wants that belt for that one day so they can be the king of everything. They just want to show off that belt.

“Everyone has a great time with it. Everybody has a shot for that belt. Even relievers now that we have two belts. One for player of the game and for pitcher of the game.   Reddick has his own, has to have his own. He’s the one who started it, so he feels special every day.”

The Astros are currently 28-12 with an eight-game lead on the Texas Rangers who are on a hot streak of their own winning seven straight.
