SAN ANTONIO (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Rockets had completed their shootaround on Wednesday ahead of game two of their Western Conference semifinal series against the San Antonio Spurs and had yet to hear from the NBA offices if back-up center Nene would be available.

Shortly after Mike D’Antoni’s availability the league handed down a $15,000 fine and no suspension to Nene after his role in an altercation with Spurs center Dewayne Dedmon at the end of the third quarter in Houston’s 126-99 victory in game one on Monday.

The suspension announcement indicated Nene’s fine was for  “escalating a situation” with Dedmon by pushing the center “above the shoulders.”

Nene has been a strong performer in the postseason by averaging 12.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Dedmon also received a technical in the incident as did James Harden. Dedmon was ejected during the fourth quarter after arguing with the game officials.
