Dallas (CBS HOUSTON) – Multiple media outlets are reporting that Tony Romo will replace Phil Simms at CBS as the company’s number one analyst for the NFL.

Romo will join Jim Nantz in the broadcast booth on the top game CBS does every Sunday. While a contract has not been signed, Romo and CBS have reportedly come to a verbal agreement on the deal.

Romo could possibly also do some golf coverage for CBS.  It was announced early Monday that Romo would not continue his football career in favor of pursuing broadcasting.

Reports also state that Romo doesn’t want to do the Thursday night broadcast that CBS does for 8 weeks a season.  Typically the NFL likes CBS and NBC to use their number one crews on the Thursday night games.  Romo is worried about being a rookie broadcaster and doing both Thursday Night and the number one Sunday game for CBS right out of the gate.
