Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – It won’t be a cakewalk Saturday against the Cincinnati Bengals but it did get a little more manageable for the Houston Texans.

Friday the Bengals ruled out linebacker Vontaze Burfict, left guard Clint Boling, plus tight ends, Tyler Eifert and Tyler Kroft.

The Bengals will be playing the Texans without three starters including two former pro-bowlers in Burfict and Eifert.

With this being Tom Savage’s first career start, the Texans will take any extra help that they can.

Burfict leads the Bengals with 101 tackles and not to mention he has eight pass breaks which are tied for second on the team. He’s everywhere on the Bengals and now it’s just on less player on defense Savage has to worry about.

Last week in a half of work Savage took the Texans on four scoring drives as they came from behind to beat the fifth best defense in the NFL (Jacksonville Jaguars).

The Bengals are a feisty bunch on defense but they allow the 12th most yards per game and without Burfict, the defense should be weaker.
