Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Cincinnati Bengals have had an underwhelming season thus far compiling a record of (5-8-1). However, Quarterback Andy Dalton is having another career year on pace to break his own single season Bengals’ franchise passing record. He also is 8th in the NFL in passing yards this season, but he is set to face the number one defense in the league in Houston Saturday.
The Texans defense is allowing just 306.5 yards per game this season putting them at the top of the league. Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati offense are 12th in the league in yards per game and that is without his number one target. Wide Receiver A.J. Green has been out with a hamstring injury since November 20th.
Green was just three catches out of the NFL receptions lead before he got injured five games ago. He is expected to play against the Texans Saturday night. This clearly poses quite a threat to the Texans number one ranking.
“One of the best in the league. Tall, range, great hands, speed, great route runner; big challenge for us,” Texans Head Coach Bill O’Brien said.
Houston’s defense has been strong all season and got quite a confidence boost this week after learning that Defensive End Jadeveon Clowney was a Pro Bowl selection and several others were chosen as alternates.
“I was happy for all the guys that made the pro bowl, you know obviously starting with (Jadeveon) Clowney, and then the other guys… Quintin (Demps) has played really well too back there, A.J. Bouye has played well,” O’Brien said.
The Texans defense is one of only two teams in the NFL to have not allowed a 300-yard passer this year. The Minnesota Vikings are the other. Bengals Quarterback Andy Dalton has thrown for over 300 yards four times this season.
