Houston (CBS HOUSTON ) – Houston Dash forward Kealia Ohai, 24, has received her first call-up to the US Women’s National team on Thursday. The number one overall pick in the 2014 NWSL draft by the Dash was considered a snub by many when she was left off of the USWNT for the Summer Olympics.
Ohai had a strong season for the Dash. She scored 11 goals in 20 games including eight in a five-game stretch in July and August.
Ohai joins Carli Lloyd and Morgan Brian as members of the Dash on the USWNT roster for upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Sweeden.
She has experience on the international level as part of the under-20 WNT. Ohai scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory during the 2012 U-20 Women’s World Cup Final over Germany.
