Here are the notes, quotes, and need-to-know information from Texans training camp on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

>> The Texans went through a relatively light workout with the joint practices against the Saints on the horizon before their preseason matchup on Saturday. It had an OTAs feel inside the bubble, with a heavy emphasis on passing drills sans pads.

>> PLAY OF THE DAY: The Texans executed a fake punt with former emergency quarterback Shane Lechler, who hit rookie receiver Braxton Miller in stride over the middle. TV cameras were done for the day after that.

>> Jadeveon Clowney (knee) was back at practice on Tuesday, and then he spoke to the media after Wednesday morning’s session. The former No. 1 overall pick was frustrated but hinted that he could have played against San Francisco in the preseason opener.

>> INJURY UPDATE: Alfred Blue (shoulder) missed a second consecutive day of camp after sitting out the game vs. the 49ers. Benardrick McKinney was full-go at practice. ILB Reshard Cliett also returned after suffering a hamstring injury on the first full day of contact. Backup defensive end Dan Pettinato exited practice with heavily-taped ankles.

>> Rookie center Nick Martin practiced for a second consecutive day after missing the preseason opener with a reported back issue. He was impressive in knowledge of blocking assignments, and he credited his work with fellow injured lineman Derek Newton while the team was away for that.

>> The team spent nearly a half hour on Red Zone work, mostly in seven-on-seven formations. The offense got the better of the defense, with Brock Osweiler delivering some sharp touchdown strikes through tight windows to DeAndre Hopkins and Jaelen Strong.

> Josh Lenz was a standout performer, catching a deep touchdown throw from Osweiler. His solid Training Camp hasn’t gone unnoticed, as head coach Bill O’Brien offered some praise for the journeyman wideout after practice.

>> The Texans practiced indoors as rain ravages the region all week, and it is anticipated that the practice sessions with the Saints will likely be indoors. Thursday’s practice is supposed to be outdoors and available to the public, but that could change with inclement weather. Stay tuned to SportsRadio 610 and SportsRadio610.com for potential updates.
