Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 on Sunday with a dominant defensive performance from the team coached by Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips.  Phillips joined Nick Wright and John Lopez on In the Loop on Monday to talk about winning the Super Bowl and if he is going to go out on top.

“I hope so,” Phillips said when asked if he’d coach for the Broncos next year. “If they’ll have me back I will.”

After a performance like the one the Broncos defense showed in the playoffs Philips name could come up during next year’s coaching vacancies.

“I think [head coaching] has passed me up,” Wade, 68, said. “Perception and maybe, they seem to mention that I’m 68 every time they put my name down. My niche is as a defensive coach. Hopefully I can do that for a little while.”

This was Wade Phillip’s first Super Bowl win as a coach and he said after a long career in the NFL there is one person he’s working to impress.

“You always want your dad to be proud, especially when you’re in the same profession,” the son of legendary Oilers coach Bum Phillips said. “I was trying to do good to make him proud, and I know he is now.”
