HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer was back on the practice field, but he was limited in his action.

In the portion available to the media Hoyer threw to receivers but didn’t take any snaps. The snaps were handled primarily by Brandon Weeden and newly signed B.J. Daniels.

Bill O’Brien said Hoyer was back and cleared to practice but is still in the concussion protocol. He is not cleared to play in a game.

“I know it’s kind of out of my hands at this point,” said Brian Hoyer. “I just keep working to get better and feeling better, and when the doctor says go then I go.”

Brandon Weeden would start if Hoyer can’t play.

“Obviously, there’s a lot of frustration,” he said. “You want to be out there playing. You never want to see someone else doing your job and especially in the situation that we’re in.”

Hoyer said he wasn’t going to compare the concussion he suffered earlier in the season to this current one. He maintained he didn’t take the concussion lightly and does a lot of research on the topic. He reiterated he has a lot of trust in the group surrounding him helping him make the decision.”
