Houston (CBS Houston) – The Houston Rockets are back to playing fun basketball, on Saturday night they were able to push past the Clippers with a 107 to 97 win. After the win Saturday in the Rockets locker room it was a loose and joyful atmosphere. The team had fun in the win and was back to enjoying basketball.

“It was a big win,” Trevor Ariza said, “but most importantly for us, we were having fun again.”

The Rockets were having fun because the team got back to thier roots and played “Rockets basketball” they played defense first, they got out in transition and they put constant pressure on the Clippers.

From the tipoff at the start of the game, the Rockets set the tone. Trevor Ariza intercepted the tipped pass which lead to a layup. On the next three possessions, the Rockets fed their big man Dwight Howard who scored on all three.

“When he gets involved early the impact that he has on the game is huge,” J.B. Bickerstaff said of Howard Saturday night.

Howard was for huge the Rockets all night long, the defense, and the offense finishing with a double-double (22 points and 14 rebounds).

The Rockets other superstar James Harden also gave the team a well rounded complete game. Harden did not have one of his amazing 30 or 40 point nights. In fact last year’s MVP runner up only finished with 17 points. Harden did make up for his lack of scoring by being the playmaker, dishing out 11 assists and playing really solid defense on the Clippers sharpshooter J.J. Redick.

The Rockets on the night played great defense overall holding the Clippers to 39% percent shooting.
