HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Rockets finally cracked the win column in the young 2015-16 NBA season, rallying back from a 15 point third quarter deficit to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-105 Monday night at Toyota Center. The loss was the first for the Thunder after three straight wins to start the season.

James Harden, after struggling with his shot in the first three losses, finally found his shooting touch finishing with a season high 37 points on 12-for-25 shooting, adding five rebounds and three assists.

The Thunder looked well on their way to handing the Rockets another double digit loss with their play in the first half.

The Rockets scored the first seven point of the game and appeared poised to hand the Thunder their first loss out of the gates. Marcus Thornton then gave the Rockets a 17-11 lead with a lay-up with 4:17 remaining in the quarter.

The Thunder used a Kevin Durant three-pointer on the ensuing possession to begin a 15-4 run to close out the opening period to lead 26-21 after the first 12 minutes.

The Rockets outscored the Thunder 25-8 in the final 8:56 of the period led by Harden’s nine third quarter points to take an 82-79 lead into the final quarter.

The Thunder pushed the lead to 15 on a Steven Adams dunk with 11 minutes remaining in the period.

Russell Westbrook picked up his fourth foul with 9:23 remaining in the third quarter with the Thunder leading 71-57. The Rockets shooting attack would catch fire. Patrick Beverley’s corner three with 1:01 remaining in the period gave the Rockets their first lead since the score was 19-18 with 2:56 remaining in the first quarter.

Durant lead the Thunder with 29 points and four rebounds, while Westbrook scored 25 with eight assists.

The Rockets will return to Toyota Center on Wednesday as the host the winless Orlando Magic with a 7pm tipoff.
