Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans have placed DJ Swearinger on waivers Monday after two years with the team.

There were rumors that the Texans were looking to trade their 2nd round pick in the 2013 draft before the 2015 NFL draft, but decided to release the player without receiving any compensation.

A source told SportsRadio 610 that the team was shopping Swearinger for some time but in the end there were not any takers and Swearinger was not a good fit for the direction of the team so they decided to let him go.

Swearinger took to his Instagram early Monday morning to thank Texans fans for their support. While it was not official that Swearinger was released from the team Coaches and GM Rick Smith would not answer questions on Monday about Swearinger saying he was still on the team at the time.
