Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The A’s jumped on the Astros quickly thanks to a booted ball by Short Stop Jonathan Villar. On the fifth pitch of the game A’s Centerfielder Sam Fuld smacked a scorcher to Villar who mis played the ball and the rest was history.
“You never want to be down ever” Evan Gattis said in response to how hurtful the errors were in the first inning.
A’s scored three in the top of the first inning and never looked back, they beat the Astros eight to one.
Astros had a tough time figuring A’s Starter Scott Kazmir out mowing down the Astros batters to the tune of six innings pitched three hits, three walks, one earned run (Jose Altuve home run) to go along with eight strike outs.
“He used the corner really well, I think he expanded the zone with us” Gattis said about what Scott Kazmir was able to do “he’s got a good fastball you got to respect, he changeup really kept us honest.”
While most of the Astros had a frustrating night at the plate, Jose Altuve was able to get on base able to get three hits in his four at bats. As well as Evan Gattis was able to get his first hit as an Astro breaking an 23 at bat hittless streak.
