(CBS HOUSTON) – Although there was reported interest from the Texans, Antonio Smith has chosen to sign with the Broncos.

The defensive end had been released on Tuesday by the Raiders after one season in Oakland. Smith had three sacks in 16 games last year, his first after signing as a free agent in the offseason.

Prior to that, Smith had spent the previous five seasons with the Texans, amassing 27 sacks over that time. Multiple reports had the Texans interested in bringing Smith back. Instead, he opts for some other familiarity, reuniting with former Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and former Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, both now in the same positions in Denver.
