Houston (CBS Houston) – The Houston Astros and all their games will be available to the largest amount of providers in recent years thanks to new television partner ROOT SPORTS.

ROOT SPORTS and the team announcing today they will produce and broadcast up to 162 of the Astros games for the 2015 season. The team previously had only been primarily available to Comcast Sports Network subscribers but with ROOT SPORTS being available on a wide number of providers, including U-vers, DirecTV, and Comcast among others, the team is now easier to see on TV.

It is the first time games are available on DirecTV and U-verse since 2012.

“We are extremely excited about our debut on ROOT SPORTS, who will be outstanding partners,” said Astros President of Business Operations Reid Ryan in the release. “Our team has worked hard to ensure Astros games would be available on television for fans. This exciting, young team will bring great excitement for Houston this season.”

Bill Brown and former Astros Alan Ashby and Geoff Blum will be part of the broadcast booth with Brown handling play-by-play duties and Ashby and Blum providing analysis ROOT announced. Ashby will also provide some play-by-play as well. It was annoucned Julia Morales will be the team’s sideline reported and contributor.

The network will also feature pre and postgame shows for each game and a 30-minute weekly program recapping the team. It begins Astros Opening Day coverage on April 6th.
