(CBS HOUSTON) – Josh Smith is from the Atlanta area. He spent his first nine years with his hometown Hawks.
But after Tuesday, it looks like there’s no love lost between Smith and Atlanta fans.
ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz reported that, during the Rockets’ Tuesday 104-96 loss to the Hawks, Smith was booed every time he touched the ball. Arnovitz wrote that Smith put his finger to his lips to shush the crowd after one of this three’s went in.
Afterwards, according to Arnovitz, Smith said the following: “I mean, those fans are fickle, very fickle and bandwagoners. It really doesn’t mean anything to me.”
The Hawks currently have the best record in the NBA at 48-12. They’re the only team to have already clinched a playoff berth. They already have more wins this season than any season since 2010.
For Smith, he had a solid game off the Rockets bench, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.
