HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans have told Pro-Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson that he can seek a trade this off-season, SportsRadio 610 and Houston Chronicle’s John McClain is reporting.

The Texans have also told the 13 year veteran that if he comes back to the Texans he will do so in a reduced roll.

According to McClain, Johnson asked for a trade or to be cut and the Texans told him he could peruse finding a trade.

Johnson had 85 catches for 936 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2014.  Johnson did hold out before the 2014 season in hopes of getting more guaranteed money from the Texans.

Without Andre Johnson on the roster the Texans save just over $8mil in cap space for 2015.  They have $21.9mil in cap space for the season.

Teammate Duane Brown sent a simple but poignant tweet seemingly about the situation.

Andre Johnson took to Instagram to say goodbye to Texans fans.  The post said:

Thank you Houston for a wonderful 12 years. And a special thanks to all the fans who have supported me throughout my career. #TeamEighty

J.J. Watt also sent out a very short tweet to show his admiration for Andre.
