The Cleveland Browns came out this week with a new logo, color scheme, word mark and secondary logo. The internet went all internet and clamored about how the Browns didn’t really change their logo because they just updated the color orange on the helmet, which is used as their logo (since the team doesn’t have a primary logo). This is for another post, but the changes the Browns made were everything the internet said they weren’t, but I’m excited to see their new uniforms on April 14th.

Since the Browns have decided to update their look we’ll keep them off this list for now. Here are the 7 teams in the NFL most in need of an image change.

Normally I am extremely against purple as the main color of a uniform. But it works for certain teams (i.e. Vikings and Ravens). I’m fine with the team keeping purple, their logo and and the color scheme of purple, black gold and white. What really needs to happen here is just some new number font, and and some more stripes on the uniform itself. I would also love to see gold come out a little more. They are one of four teams in the league who use gold, but they barely use it. The collar, belt and possibly even pants or socks could be gold. I would be okay with all of that. Let’s make them really jump. You could probably even go with a third jersey that is gold just to mix it up. But these need to be updated.

The Texans, like the Ravens, have a good color scheme (albeit a popular one among sports teams) and logo. They really need a new look. Since they came in the league they have had the same jerseys and pants and haven’t done much since 2012. Arian Foster wants to wear red pants with blue jerseys. I personally think a white helmet would look really good, but the Titans and Colts already wear white in the same division, so that is probably out.

Here are some mock ups of ideas I had for the Texans.

I know what you are saying, “But they just updated their logo!” Did they? Really?

Old Logo:

Let’s just say, the logo isn’t actually bad. It’s the color scheme. It’s the same thing a lot of teams that came into professional sports leagues in the early to mid 90’s. Teal was cool. Bright colors were cool. They are again, but more neon. There is no reason the Panthers couldn’t redo their entire color scheme and uniform look. Let’s get on this Nike.

4. Tennessee Titans

Change the logo. Change the Team Name. Do something. This is an entirely too weird color scheme. Blue, blue, red and white. Who uses two different blues? You aren’t the Pittsburgh Penguins. Stop it. If you want to make the sword the primary logo, go for it. Please stop with the two blues. Pick one. Or you know, try something different. Mix up the color scheme. Do something. Just fix this.

3. New York Giants

For some reason I hate the Giants uniforms. I don’t know if it is the gray pants, if it is the fact that they have no Giant in their logo at all. I don’t know if it is that I’m tired of the fact that ever Blue White and Red team are blue white and red. Can’t it be a different set. The Giants need a new logo, or at least a good secondary logo. Just fix it.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

They really did just re-do their entire uniform. And it is horrible. Just awful. Bring back the tangerine, not in full effect, but make it more prevalent. Get rid of the red. Keep the pewter. The pewter is so unique. I am writing in very short sentences. I like the larger helmet logo. I like the logo. I hate the numbers. Fix it. The good news is if the Bucs did another redesign, only five or six fans who actually 1. found a player good enough to want their jersey and 2. liked the jersey enough to buy it, would be angry that there was a redesign.

I don’t think much needs to be said. Never has a team needed to be reset more than the Jaguars. They have never had a good jersey, logo, or color scheme. They need to blow everything up, start from scratch. I’d even be happy to see a new team name. Jacksonville Sharks? Jacksonville Gators? Jacksonville Jailers? I don’t know, but they can do everything better. And don’t get me started on the helmet. I can’t even.
