HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – Jason Terry didn’t hold hold back his praise for Mavericks guard Rajon Rondo on Wednesday as the Rockets were about to host their in-state rivals.
“He is, to me, the best general in basketball right now,” Terry said. “What he does is he plays both ends on the floor. When you’ve got a guy like him at the point guard position, it makes it easier for everyone else to do their job.”
The Mavericks acquired Rondo in a trade with Boston in mid-December. Terry says Rondo’s approach to the game is something any team can benefit from.
“He has a kick-ass type attitude,” Terry said. “He doesn’t have any friends. He’d rather talk to you after the game. I’m one of his best friends, but he won’t talk to me tonight until afterwards. That’s the kind of edge you’d like to have from your starting point guard.”
Rondo is currently averaging 9.3 points, 9.1 assists, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals. The Mavericks are 11-7 in games Rondo has played, which includes the three-game losing streak Dallas currently finds itself in.
