Houston (CBS HOUSTON) : The Houston Texans are bringing back Case Keenum to the roster, SportsRadio 610 and Houston Chronicle’s John McClain is reporting.  The fan favorite was cut from the Texans on Aug. 30th when the Texans brought in Ryan Mallett from the Patriots for a 7th round pick.

Keenum was on the St. Louis Rams practice squad before being brought back to Houston, where he started 8 games for the Texans in 2013.  The Texans are in a tough situation when a few weeks ago Ryan Mallett was placed on injured reserve after just two starts with a shoulder injury.  In Sunday’s game Ryan Fitzpatrick left the game with a broken leg and will miss the rest of the season and backup, rookie Tom Savage, injured his knee with just a few plays left in the Texans 17-10 loss to the Colts.

If Savage’s injury is serious the Texans could need to add yet another quarterback to the duo of Thad Lewis and Keenum.
