Houston (CBS Houston) – The Rockets aren’t dwelling on what happened in Memphis on Monday. Coming off their worst loss of the season, the team is ready to put it behind them against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
“Oh yeah,” Dwight Howard said when he was asked if tonight was a bounce back game. “Come out and play the right way and get a win.”
“It’s over and done,” Howard said about Memphis. “Every game is not going to be great.”
No need to dwell on one game out of 82.
“That’s just one game,” said James Harden who scored a season low six points against the Grizzlies. “We’re still in the beginning-in the learning stages of what we’re trying to do.”
Jason Terry hasn’t let the Memphis Massacre stick with him.
“It’s over with,” Terry said. “We understand the area of concern after ten games of where we need to improve.”
The offense needs to avoid being stagnant and move the ball better according to Terry. The defense he said needed a little bit more effort.
Harden said tonight is all about getting back to being themselves.
“Get our swag back a little bit,” he said. “Coming off a bad loss this will be the perfect game. On ESPN. The Lakers won a pretty good game last night in Atlanta.”
The Lakers are just 2-9 on the season which is the worst record in the Western Conference. The two teams last met to start the season where the Rockets won by 18 points.
Howard isn’t worried about the extracurricular activity of Bryant, he is focused on basketball.
“Just got to go out there and win the game. That’s all that matters” Howard said after a chuckle when asked about the previous game with the Lakers. “We can’t allow emotions or anything to affect us on the court.”
Harden said with the team’s next five games at home, there is a clear focus on getting this part of the schedule started on the right foot.
“Just get our confidence, get out mojo back a little bit, this is going to be a great game for us tonight.”
