HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Rockets and General Manager Daryl Morey announced on Tuesday that they have assigned rookie guard Nick Johnson to their NBA Development League affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Johnson becomes the second D-League assignment of the season for the Rockets as forward Clint Capela was assigned to the Vipers on November 10th.
Johnson has appeared in just three games for the Rockets this season, totaling two points and a rebound in 11 minutes of action. The former PAC-12 player of the year with Arizona was selected 42nd overall by Houston in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Johnson is in Bakersfield, California with the Vipers and will be in uniform wearing #4 for the Vipers game tonight against the Jam.
Johnson and Capela join the long list of Rockets who have spent time in the D-League. Other Current Rockets Patrick Beverley, Terrence Jones, Donatas Motiejunas, Isaiah Canaan, Troy Daniels, and Joey Dorsey have all spent time in their careers as Rockets assignment players to the Vipers.
