Houston (CBS Houston) – Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio told In the Loop this morning he believes Adrian Peterson should be back on the football field and off Roger Goodell’s commissioner exempt list.
“The NFL is sticking it to him,” Florio told Nick Wright and John Lopez this morning.
Florio explained Peterson’s agreement to be on the list was contingent on the case being opened. Now that the case is finished, Peterson shouldn’t still be on the list according to Florio. He said Peterson did the NFL a favor by agreeing to be on the list in the first place.
The NFL is now reviewing Peterson’s case under the personal conduct policy of the league, but Florio thinks the league should have had something ready for when Peterson was finished with his legal obligations. He said the NFL should have anticipated a deal being made and had their decision ready.
“Now they’re afraid to do anything until they have to do something because they feel like ‘if we try to do anything we’re gonna get it wrong so let’s just do nothing.'”
Florio thinks Peterson should be allowed to play while the NFL is reviewing his case under the personal conduct policy, regardless of what the eventually decide to give Peterson.
Florio said the NFL promised Peterson one thing and has broken the promise by not allowing him back on the field.
“Adrian has done everything that was expected of him to get off this commissioner’s exempt list.”
