Manziel-mania took over College Station for the past two seasons, but Texas A&M might not have needed it. Last Thursday the Aggies blew out the then No. 9 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 52-28 in South Carolina. The win showed head coach Kevin Sumlin could keep an explosive offense going without the likes of Manziel and receiver Mike Evans. Aggies fans have certainly bought in as the average price for Texas A&M football tickets on the secondary market is currently higher than the two years under Manziel.

According to TiqIQ, the average price for home games on the Texas A&M football schedule is currently $198.63. That average is 7.4% more expensive than the $184.92 average price last season and 13% more expensive than the average price in 2012.

2012 was not just the first season for Manziel at quarterback, it was the first season for the school in the SEC. The Aggies were expected to struggle coming into the toughest conference in college football, but they won 11 games in their first season. While that total dropped to nine wins last year, the Aggies already look like one of the most dangerous teams in the country one game into 2014.

Texas A&M’s first home game of the season will come on Saturday against the Lamar Cardinals, though it is the least expensive of the season at Kyle Field. The $98.44 average price is 50% below the season average and is one of two home games with an average
below $100. The other game will be next weekend against the Rice Owls, with an average price of $99.16.

While the Aggies opened the season with a big win against a ranked school, they won’t play another Top 25 team until October 11 when Mississippi comes to College Station. That will be the second most expensive home game this season with an average price of $203.47, 2.4% above the season average. Before that, the biggest game will be against Arkansas on September 27, a game that will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Since it’s not a home game for Texas A&M, the average price for that game does not factor into the Aggies’ home average. That game, though, currently has an average price of $285.36 on the secondary market, 44% above the average Texas A&M home game.

The most expensive game at Kyle Field will be the finale against LSU on November 27. The average price for Texas A&M vs LSU football tickets is currently $354.19, 78% above the season average.

Texas A&M might not generate the same type of headlines this season, but there’s little reason to doubt the team can make another run towards the top of the conference. Aggies fans have certainly bought in and it’s reflected in ticket prices on the secondary market.
