Houston (CBS Houston) – On Sunday the Texans traded for New England quarterback Ryan Mallet. Now they have cut ties with former starter Case Keenum, according to SportsRadio 610’s John McClain.

The trade left the Texans with four quarterbacks and Keenum was the odd man out between Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tom Savage.

Keenum, a university of Houston product, joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent three years ago. Last season he mad the active roster and started eight games, but failed to win a game. He completed 54 percent of his passes for 1,760 yard with nine touchdowns and six interception.

Keenum will now be placed on waivers. If unclaimed, he will become a free agent.
