A number of key Houston Texans will be sidelined for tonight’s preseason dress rehearsal against the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field.
Arian Foster, Jadeveon Clowney, Chris Myers and Johnathan Joseph are among 11 players who won’t go. That does, however, mean that Andre Johnson, Brian Cushing and Louis Nix will be in uniform, and possibly slated to make their exhibition season debuts.
Foster has been limited for much of camp with back and hamstring issues, though he has been a full participant in practice this week.
Myers hasn’t practiced in a week with an undisclosed issue, and head coach Bill O’Brien has downplayed its severity. Clowney left Wednesday’s joint practice session after suffering a stinger in Denver and sat out on Thursday.
O’Brien this week hinted that he might rest some of his stars tonight, mentioning the quality of work each of them got during three highly competitive joint sessions this week.
This affects a number of players on the bubble, too, as Shiloh Keo, Will Yeatman, Lonnie Ballentine, Pual Hazel, Conor Boffeli and Anthony McClung will also sit, and don’t have the opportunity to showcase their talents before rosters must be pared to 75 on August 26. Rosters must be at 53 on August 30.
