Brennan Williams has had a tough go of it since entering the NFL two seasons ago.

Monday wasn’t any easier.

Williams, 23, was waived on Monday by the Houston Texans with the failed physical designation, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

A third-round pick in 2013, Williams didn’t play a down last season following microfracture knee surgery. Then he missed OTAs this summer, and was a toss up for training camp on July 25.

Said head coach Bill O’Brien in May, when asked if the second-year offensive tackle out of North Carolina would be ready for Day 1 on Friday:

“I don’t know. I’m not sure.”

Houston’s NFL-worst 2-14 record last season can be blamed on a number of factors. Depth was one of them. And with four days before camp opens, the Texans are already down an offensive lineman.
