Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson are reporting that the Houston Texans have their new head coach. That person is Bill O’Brien, the Penn State head football coach.

No official word from the Houston Texans on the hire or the contract.

The announcement could be held out until as late as Saturday.

The 44 year old coach came from the tutelage of Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots as an offensive assistant from 2007-2011. He then took over for Joe Paterno at Penn State. The Nittany Lions went 15-9 with O’Brien at the helm.

O’Brien would make the third head coach in Houston Texans history.
