Houston (CBS Houston)– On the eve of training camp things are looking up for Texans safety Ed Reed. Andre Johnson, a close friend of Reed, thinks Reed will be ready for the season opener in San Diego.

“He said he’s feeling fine and he’ll be ready to go” said Johnson.

Reed’s health has been a major storyline throughout the Texans offseason. The 34-year-old had hip surgery on April 30th and has been trying to work his way back since.

“He’s fine, he’s out running around and stuff so (he) said he feels ahead of schedule.” said Johnson.

The Texans start training camp Friday.
