HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – The NFL unveiled its Top 100 Players list of 2012.  The top ten aired Thursday night on the NFL Network.  Topping the list was J.J. Watt who led the league with 20.5 sacks during his All-Pro season and ranked fifth among his peers.  Watt, in his second season, made the highest debut in the history of the countdown.

“I hadn’t seen a defensive player play at that level over the course of a season since I’ve been playing,” said 12-year veteran defensive lineman Richard Seymour.

Running back Arian Foster ranked 8th in the top ten.  In 2012 Foster led the league with 351 carries and 15 rushing touchdowns.

Other Texan players who made the list were: Andre Johnson (#14), Ed Reed (#18), Duane Brown (#48).  Johnson and Brown received Associated Press All-Pro second team honors in 2013.  All three made the 2013 Pro Bowl roster.

The NFL’s Top 100 features the 100 greatest players in the league, as voted on by players. Adrian Peterson, who ran for a career-high 2,097 yards less than one year out from ACL surgery, was voted number one on the list.
