HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – This week the Astros will honor the fallen firefighters from Friday’s tragic fire at the Southwest Inn that killed four and injured 13 in the city’s deadliest blaze in 118 years.

During the upcoming homestand against the Baltimore Orioles (June 4-6), the Astros will wear a special patch on their uniforms to pay tribute to the courageous firefighters.  The Astros organization will have a moment of silence during Tuesday’s pregame ceremony, along with the Houston Fire Department Honor Guard and Houston Pipe and Drum Band.  Flags at Minute Maid Park will also fly at half-staff this week.

In honor of firefighters and their service everywhere, the Astros will be offering them free tickets for the June 4-6 games.  Local and national firefighters and their immediate family members can pick up their complimentary tickets (with a firefighter id) at the Minute Maid Box Office.

“Our prayers go out to the families and friends of the firefighters who lost their lives or were injured in last week’s tragedy,” said Astros President Reid Ryan. “We all owe a debt of gratitude to all of our firefighters, who risk their lives to keep others safe.”
