After Wednesday’s practice, Gary Kubiak acknowledged that No. 80 was not on the field. The Texans head coach said they saw him work hard on Monday with some soreness in the hamstring and just felt he needed a day to rest.
Kubiak did say this will not play into whether or not Andre plays against the Browns on Sunday. Instead, they will continue to monitor their All-Pro receiver and he remains day to day. Kubiak maintains that the team will continue to do what’s best for Andre Johnson’s career and bring him back when he is ready to play.
With the injury to Darryl Sharpton, rookie free agent linebacker Mister Alexander is now on the active roster and will likely make contributions to special teams. Tim Dobbins is now the primary backup to Brian Cushing and DeMeco Ryans inside. The team has also signed rookie free agent linebacker Derrell Smith to the practice squad.
Facing the Browns…
Gary Kubiak’s club is going to face the league’s 5th ranked defense. Citing the team’s ability to get to the quarterback and the leadership of defensive coordinator Dick Jauron has been key to their success as well.
