New Year’s Eve is a time of hope and promise for the coming year, and also a time for partying. Because Houston is known for its temperate winters, the Bayou City can have some of the most exciting fireworks displays around. Whether you’re looking for something a bit earlier for the kids or want to party all night, there is something for everyone in the Houston area. Come to historic downtown Galveston and enjoy a laser light show to ring in the new year and top off the holiday season, Admission is free and the festivities will begin at 6 p.m. There will be hundreds of twinkle lights and a laser light show all glittering and synchronized to music. This event will be fun for the whole family.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum is ringing in the new year 12 hours early with a New Year Noon party. The celebration at the museum is free with admission and ends at 1 p.m., so parents won’t have to worry about anyone missing their bedtimes. The party will include creating New Year’s party hats, arts & crafts projects, a balloon and confetti drop and kids getting to make their own fireworks noises with yards and yards of bubble wrap to pop. Live entertainment will wrap up the festivities.

Take a trip down to the boardwalk and spend the evening enjoying all of the entertainment it has to offer. Have your New Year’s Eve dinner in one of the many restaurants and then relax with some great shopping. Don’t forget to let the little ones try out all of the rides. There will be fireworks over the boardwalk in the evening for everyone to enjoy.

The celebration at Sugar Land Town Square is a two-for-one hit for families. From 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., will be the children’s celebration, with live street performers, circus and puppetry performers and a DJ on the main stage. At 9 p.m., catch the first fireworks display at the children’s celebration finale. After that, it turns into a party for the adults, with alcohol available (and free soft drinks for designated drivers), even more street performances and entertainment and a 3D midnight showing of fireworks that has never been seen before. The party will wrap up at 1 a.m. and shuttle services are provided to Town Square from the nearby Mercer Stadium.
