If you like Antidote, Poison Girl and Black Hole Coffee House, you will appreciate the quirky, laid-back atmosphere of Little Dipper Lounge, which is from the same team. The concept behind this bar is to create a local watering hole that caters to the needs of those who live nearby. This bar opened at the end of October, and there are still some touches that proclaim its newness, like the lack of a cocktail menu. But the bartenders are very friendly and have a well-stocked bar to prepare whatever you want. Beers and wines are also available at this bar that is open seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

For those who like their bars a little divier, take a trip to the Voodoo Queen. This dive bar has games, a pool table and a juke box to keep the fun going. There are also $2 well drinks during happy hour, which is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a bar that is made for those who like to drink, and there is a separate menu of exclusively liquors that are served. You can get a $5 Maker’s Mark here without having to hobnob with whiskey snobs. There are also extra-large po’boy sandwiches, chicken and waffles and other food if drinking makes you hungry. It’s a neighborhood bar that specializes in great drinks and its guests having a great time.

Houston, TX 77006

In busy Montrose, it can be hard to find a quiet spot to sit outside and drink, but Rosemont Social Club has one of the best, if well hidden, upstairs patios in the area. The front door is next to Uchi’s and hard to find, but once you walk inside the door with the large 910 on the front, you are inside Rosemont Social Club. There are small plates of appetizers that you can order to accompany your drinks from the wine menu, beer selection or cocktails. This bar opened in the early fall this year and its drinks are made from only the freshest ingredients. Rosemont Social Club has risen in the ranks of many people who seek out good drinks and a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.

Capitol Bar Midtown
2415 Main St.
Houston, TX 77002
(713) 487-6854
www.capitolbarmidtown.com

Capitol Bar Midtown opened at the end of February this year as a patio bar, and since then, this bar has played host to numerous bands that come through the area. This bar is a great place to relax after a long day. Instead of offering a food menu, several food trucks park next to the bar to give you a wide variety of options for eating. Bring your cash when you come because this is a cash-only establishment. If you are after live music with your drinks, live bands appear at the bar every Thursday night.
