Last year, there was a listing of some of the best places around town for Black Friday deals. There were many places missed on that list that are ideal for Black Friday shopping due to their selection or location as well as the fact that they are small, local businesses that also deserve some love on the busiest shopping day of the year.
2701 Dowling St.
Houston, TX 77004
Not all department stores around town are chain stores. Since 1955, Wolf’s Department Store and Pawn Shop has been a community staple on Dowling Street. The pawn shop has an ever-changing stock, like all pawn shops do, but the department store side is a good location to visit if you are looking for men’s clothing or men’s hats to give as gifts. The pawn shop side is a great place to go for traditional, tribal and modern artwork, musical instruments, jewelry, furs and more. Only a visit to the pawn shop will show you exactly what is available, but there should be something for everyone on your Christmas list at Wolf’s, and many of the items you find will be available at a much lower price than you would pay for them new. Wolf’s Department Store and Pawn Shop is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
