It’s time for seasonal food and drinks to appear in Houston-area restaurants and bars. When pumpkins appear and apples are available, look for these seasonal drinks at many of Houston’s best bars. Fall drinks may include flavors of fruits of the fall like pomegranates, pumpkins or apples, or they may be served warm to ward off the oncoming chill of winter.Mongoose Versus Cobra

Mongoose Versus Cobra is the quirky name for a bar that takes its drinks seriously. Most of the spirits and beers available are from small, local companies. There are few cocktails at this bar, but you will find draught beers like leprechaun cider, which brings the crisp flavor of fall apples into your glass. You can also try some roasted pumpkin seeds or hazelnuts to go with your drink for the full fall experience. This bar is open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Mondays through Fridays and 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

You cannot go wrong with anything on the list because Anvil’s three founders are self-proclaimed “cocktail freaks” who pay the utmost attention to every detail of every drink. Pick anything from this bar’s 100 list, but for October and November, try the Calvados toddy, which is made with the flavors of maple syrup and allspice, both perfect pairings for the fall foods on the bar menu like the Harvest Moon flatbread with hazelnuts, butternut squash, pears and other autumn flavors.
