It’s summer and that only means one thing: the kids are out of school! Instead of panicking and sending them to nearest summer camp you can find, why not enjoy a few summer blockbusters?

The 2014 summer movie schedule has plenty to offer for any kid, from action to drama (yes, even kids like a little drama in their movies). So take a look at the top movie picks to take you kid to this summer.

A reimagining of the classic Disney film “Sleeping Beauty,” this version of the fairy tale takes a closer look at the evil villain Maleficent’s backstory. Could even the coldest villain actually have a heart full of warmth?

Our critic says: “3 stars out of 4 for the absorbing and visually dazzling fantasy adventure”

How To Train Your Dragon 2 (June 13th)

A sequel to the 2010 hit is finally here. With brand new characters and an even bigger storyline, this film based on the book series with the same name promises plenty of action. Oh, and dragons!

Our critic says: “3 stars out of 4 for a high-tech toon that flies higher and breathes more dramatic and emotional fire than the original.”

Transformers: Age of Extinction (June 27th)

The bigger kids may need more bang for your buck, and “Transformers: Age of Extinction” looks like its got quite a bit of bang. The fourth installment of the series introduces dinosaurs and old favorites. Plus, it’s a movie that any adult could probably sit through and be just as equally entertained.

Earth To Echo (July 2nd)

What would happen if you mixed “E.T.” with sci-fi sleeper “Chronicle”?  It may very well be this summer’s “Earth To Echo,” which follows a young alien robot’s adventures on earth with a few preteen buddies.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Aug. 8th)

They’re back!  Michael Bay has recreated the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a whole new generation of kids, and the action looks like it could be on par with the 90’s cult classics.  Let’s hope the laughs are still there too!

The Giver (Aug. 15th)

Following the trend of award-winning books turned into big budget movies, “The Giver” stars Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. That’s all you really need to sell anybody on any movie!
