Aloft Houston has one of the best pet policies around. Called the ARF (Animals R Family) program, one pet weighing up to 40 pounds can stay in your room without a pet fee. Your pet enjoys his own water bowl, pet bed, and a bag of doggie toys and treats from the hotel while there. Even in hotels without a pet fee, be sure to be a responsible pet owner and watch your pet to avoid damage to the room.

The Hotel Derek has a completely open pet policy, meaning that pets are not limited to only cats and dogs. You can bring anything from parakeets to pot-bellied pigs to the Hotel Derek. The hotel requests that guests bring with them everything their pets need to ensure the animal is comfortable. From the perspective of a traveler with companion animals, this is a good idea, because bringing food and bedding from home that are familiar to your pet can ease its anxiety.
