Ushering in fall with festive, seasonal desserts is a time-honored tradition here in Houston. Many places offer amazing seasonal fall desserts for just a few months out of the year. If you are lucky, you can find a few shops that serve fall desserts year round. If you’re not, try these.

Located a little outside of Houston, Pie Town is well known and loved for its home-cooked pies. People from all over the city come together for its pie and coffee. Offering original pies such as sweet potato pecan and apple, cranberry, pecan that cannot be found anywhere else in the city, Pie Town is the perfect place to visit for a sweet taste of fall. While most of its fall pies are only offered from October through December, there are a few apple and pecan pies that stick around Pie Town all year round. Make sure you grab a cup of coffee, a perfect complement to those heavenly pies.

The Chocolate Bar has become a staple in Houston for all chocolate lovers. With foods including pies, ice cream, cakes, cookies, candy and chocolate-covered foods galore, you can satisfy your chocolate cravings any time. While you can always find chocolate-covered pecans at The Chocolate Bar, pumpkin cheesecake and its special homemade fall ice cream flavors only appear for a few months out of the year. Nowhere else in Houston will you be able to find pumpkin cheesecake loaded with white chocolate and pecans. Add a scoop or two of its ice cream and it is a fall fiesta in your mouth.

Pie in the Sky Co. offers fall pies and bread year round along with a few seasonal/special-order pies. Cranberry orange bread, sweet potato pie, strawberry rhubarb pie and pumpkin pies are just a few of its baked bits of deliciousness. Offering wonderful pies at a great price, Pie in the Sky is a great place to come eat lunch, pie, coffee and taste other desserts. A unique feature to Pie in the Sky  is that it offers a pie-only time in its café on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Take a little drive out the country and enjoy some of the best barbecue Fort Bend County has to offer with your fall pies. Swinging Door offers pecan pie year round and seasonal cobblers at an affordable rate. Do not let the price fool you, its desserts are homemade, delicious and will make you come back for more.

Every year the Flying Saucer Pie Co. makes the news because people are lined up outside for miles and miles waiting for their chance to purchase one of their pies for Thanksgiving. This place promises pies “that are out of this world.” Its seasonal pies consist of pumpkin, pumpkin with cream, and mincemeat that can only be purchased on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. Make sure you drop by the Flying Saucer, you never know who will drop by with your slice of pie.
