A federal judge on Friday gave state and federal lawyers 60 days to come up with a process by which the U.S. Justice Department can assure that Louisiana’s private school tuition voucher program does not contribute to segregation of schools.
Gov. Bobby Jindal is asking President Barack Obama to check out Louisiana’s voucher program firsthand, saying the visit would make him scrap an administration lawsuit against the program.
According to Houston’s police chief, officials with the U.S. Justice Department are investigating six cases involving officers with the Houston Police Department.
