T. D. Williams, Medium.com, joined MaD Radio to discuss an article he wrote on Daryl Morey. Williams explained why he has been critical of Morey because he hasn’t taken Houston “to the promised land” yet. He said he isn’t against the use of analytics in basketball, but says they have to be used careful. He said that Morey has created what he calls a “treadmill team” and doesn’t agree with his decision to not bring Chandler Parsons back. Chandler Parsons “Offended” By How Rockets Handled Restricted Free Agency, Offer Sheet From Mavericks

He’s reportedly less enthused about how he got there.
Fran Blinebury, nba.com, joined MaD Radio to discuss the most recent developments in the NBA. He said that the Rockets are not going to be contenders this year with their current lineup and will just have to try again next year. He said it’s hard to say whether or not the Rockets should have re-signed Parsons but he thinks they probably should have gone for it. Blinebury spoke about the journey the Rockets have been on so far with getting James Harden and Dwight Howard, but this situation with losing out in free agency has been a bit of a setback for the team.
Hall of Famer David Robinson joined the Triple Threat to talk about all things NBA. He said he hadn’t really heard much about LeBron James’s move because he’s been out of the loop. He said that he is a big fan of James Harden and that Harden is “a stud.” Robinson thinks the Rockets still have some question marks to work through. He said he really enjoyed playing under Gregg Popovich because of his no nonsense style of coaching. He discussed a charity event he is doing in town as well.
With LeBron James’ announcement the Houston Rockets are in speed mode to make moves so that they can improve their team. It looks like the first, and maybe biggest piece, is in the works with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Orlando Alzugaray, 640 Sports Miami, joined The B-Straw & Pauly G Show to discuss NBA free agency and the Heat. He started out discussing the meeting between LeBron and Riley today in Vegas and his thought on Riley’s best approach to LeBron. He said that Miami has the clear advantage over Cleveland in the quest for LeBron in multiple ways from location to a level of class they are known for. Alzugaray said the winning component for teams is battle tested veteran players, not young guys. He said if LeBron leaves Miami, he can see Chris Bosh coming to play for the Rockets because he won’t stay on without LeBron. Alzugaray says LeBron is the big domino and he will set off a long chain of events once he has made his decision. He thinks LeBron will make his decision in the next 48 hours.
