Fran Blinebury, nba.com, joined MaD Radio to discuss the most recent developments in the NBA. He said that the Rockets are not going to be contenders this year with their current lineup and will just have to try again next year. He said it’s hard to say whether or not the Rockets should have re-signed Parsons but he thinks they probably should have gone for it. Blinebury spoke about the journey the Rockets have been on so far with getting James Harden and Dwight Howard, but this situation with losing out in free agency has been a bit of a setback for the team.
Hall of Famer David Robinson joined the Triple Threat to talk about all things NBA. He said he hadn’t really heard much about LeBron James’s move because he’s been out of the loop. He said that he is a big fan of James Harden and that Harden is “a stud.” Robinson thinks the Rockets still have some question marks to work through. He said he really enjoyed playing under Gregg Popovich because of his no nonsense style of coaching. He discussed a charity event he is doing in town as well.
With LeBron James’ announcement the Houston Rockets are in speed mode to make moves so that they can improve their team. It looks like the first, and maybe biggest piece, is in the works with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Orlando Alzugaray, 640 Sports Miami, joined The B-Straw & Pauly G Show to discuss NBA free agency and the Heat. He started out discussing the meeting between LeBron and Riley today in Vegas and his thought on Riley’s best approach to LeBron. He said that Miami has the clear advantage over Cleveland in the quest for LeBron in multiple ways from location to a level of class they are known for. Alzugaray said the winning component for teams is battle tested veteran players, not young guys. He said if LeBron leaves Miami, he can see Chris Bosh coming to play for the Rockets because he won’t stay on without LeBron. Alzugaray says LeBron is the big domino and he will set off a long chain of events once he has made his decision. He thinks LeBron will make his decision in the next 48 hours.
Tonight the B-Straw & Pauly G Show Road Trip traveled to New York and Columbia. First they spoke to John Jastremski, WFAN New York, about Carmelo Anthony and where he will end up. Jastremski said he thinks where Melo lands will be largely about money. He thinks it’s a pipe dream for both LeBron James and Melo to end up in Houston. He also doesn’t think LeBron James will leave the Heat. Next they traveled to Columbia to talk to Brandon Kiley, ESPN Columbia, about Dorial Green-Beckham going to OU. Kiley said he doesn’t think there’s much chance Green-Beckham actually plays for Oklahoma at all.
Houston Chronicle writer Jonathan Feigen joined The B-Straw & Pauly G Show to discuss the Rockets in free agency. Feigen said they will sell Carmelo Anthony on being on a team with a big 3 in their meeting tomorrow. He also discussed the routes the Rockets could take to trade Jeremy Lin. Feigen talked about the potential of the Rockets going after Kevin Love. He said regardless of who they go after, the guys who are currently on the Rockets roster need to really work to improve their defense.

John Dickinson, 98.7 The Game, joined The B-Straw & Pauly G Show to discuss NBA trade rumors in the Road Trip. He said he had not heard about a Lin or Parsons trade with the Warriors. He said a Kevin Love trade has potential to happen. Dickinson thinks getting Love would really boost the team up the ranks. He discussed some other elements the team has been looking to improve as well.

He discussed the trades the Knicks have made so far in the off season. Malusis thinks that it is far fetched that Carmelo Anthony would be traded to the Rockets for James Harden. He talked about some of the possible moves that coach Phil Jackson is looking to make.
