Dino Babers, the head football coach of Bowling Green University joins B-Straw and Pauly G to talk about the capabilities of his former Eastern Illinois University quarterback, Jimmy Garappolo. Coach Babers states that Garappolo has the fastest release he has ever seen and was extremely accurate during his tenure at Eastern Illinois. Garappolo has exemplified the physical and mental attributes that are sought by NFL teams, but his career of playing against FCS opponents has scouts questioning the level of success at the highest level.
Steven Godfrey from SB-Nation.com joins the guys to talk about the concept of the “Bag Man”. These silent financiers of division I football players have not been quiet enough, as Godfrey investigates their efforts to bring in our nation’s top athletes. In an effort to gain some understanding of this taboo subject, Godfrey approached a few anonymous Bag Men to ask them how their under-the-table “financial” contributions to prospective college football players has helped out their respective programs. The majority of the anonymous patrons that he interviewed were ironically, not financially “well-off” like many of us would expect. Not only are these players getting paid before they arrive on campus, but they continue to receive cash from these bag men through the entirety of their college career.
