Climatologist: Urban Heat Islands Could Increase Mortality Rates

Professor Andrew Carleton at Pennsylvania State University said a phenomenon called ‘urban heat islands’ could lead to a higher rate of temperature-related mortality. The Farmers’ Almanac and other climate research organizations are anticipated extreme heat and weather conditions for the summer of 2012. Are their predictions – and the dangers inherent in them – accurate, or will conditions be cooler than they think?
