Robert joined the SportsRadio 610 team as Sports Director in 2008 after spending 16 years with KTRH Radio in Houston. He covers the Texans, Astros and Rockets on a daily basis, providing updates on local and national sports news at the top and bottom of the hour every afternoon. He also produces all Texans games on the Houston Texans Radio Network.
Before joining SportsRadio 610, Robert spent 16 years with KTRH Radio in Houston. In addition to covering the city’s major sports teams, he served as the Astros clubhouse reporter for 8 years and hosted Astros pre- and postgame shows on the weekends. Before branching into sports reporting and anchoring in 2000, he worked as a bureau reporter for KTRH, covering the construction of all 3 major sports facilities in Houston.
Over the years, Robert has covered everything from City Hall to Super Bowls, from Hakeem Olajuwon to Arian Foster. He covered both of the Rockets championship celebrations in 1994 and 1995. He was there in the Astros clubhouse in 2005 when Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio celebrated their first trip to the World Series. And he was in the Texans broadcast booth when the team made its first playoff appearances in 2012.
Robert also spent 5 years as part of the Rice University football and basketball broadcasts, including serving as the play-by-play voice of the Owls men’s and women’s basketball teams over a 4 year span. In addition, he has been a longtime correspondent for Fox Sports Radio, ESPN Radio, the Associated Press, CBS Sports and other national sports networks covering the NFL, NBA and MLB.
Robert is proud to be a native Texan and a Houstonian since 1980, having graduated from the Astros Buddies program, Klein High School and the University of Texas.
When he’s not in the press box or on the air, he enjoys playing softball, golf, bird hunting and spending time with his wife, Amy, and two daughters, Mackenzie and Isabella.
These three players might be some good ones to focus on as the Texans take on the Jaguars.
