Houston Chosen To Host Copa America Centenario Soccer Game

NRG Stadium will host one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in the world as it was announced on Thursday that the Copa America Centenario will come to Houston. Copa America Centenario is the 100th edition of South America’s championship and will take place outside of Soth America for the first time. The tournament will be held between the top teams in North, Central and South America along with Carribean countries.

Dallas Keuchel Wins American League Cy Young Award

Houston Astros starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel won the American League Cy Young award on Wednesday Night. Keuchel becomes the third Astros pitcher to win the award, joining Mike Scott (1986) and Roger Clemens (2004).

Kelvin Sampson: “Kevin [McHale] Will Be Fine…He’ll Land On His Feet”

The Houston Rockets fired Kevin McHale on Wednesday after a 4-7 start that included two losing streaks of three and four games respectively.

Former Rockets assistant coach under McHale and current University of Houston head basketball coach Kelvin Sampson released a statement about the release of McHale from the Rockets.

Carlos Correa Wins American League Rookie Of The Year

Correa, who debuted on June, 8th, hit .279 with 22 home runs and 68 RBI in 99 games for the Astros. Correa was the number one overall pick in the 2012 draft out of Puerto Rico. The 21-year-old was the youngest position player in the major leagues for the entirety of his time on the team this year, starting as a 20-year-old before turning 21 in September.
