Houston Astros Agree To One Year Deal With Doug Fister

The Houston Astros and free agent RHP Doug Fister have agreed to on a one-year contract, Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today. Fister, 31, has started 167 games during his seven-year Major League career, posting a 65-63 record and a 3.42 ERA (413ER/1085.2IP). Over the last five seasons, the right-hander ranks 15th in the Majors in ERA (3.42) and has recorded an ERA below 3.70 in four of those five seasons.

A grand jury has indicted a police officer after he used a stun gun on a City Council member in a small, predominantly black Texas college town, authorities said Monday. Prairie View officer Michael Kelley was indicted for official oppression, a misdemeanor, on Friday said E. Rivera, chief investigator for the Waller County District Attorney’s Office.

What If: Peyton Manning Had Picked The Texans

Manning was rumored to be meeting with multiple teams, but many of the reports that happened at the time, and that have come down since, have said Peyton wanted to choose the Houston Texans but Gary Kubiak, the front office or a combination of the two didn’t want the Hall of Fame quarterback.  Fast forward to 2015/2016 and Gary Kubiak is coaching the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl and Peyton Manning is his quarterback.  The coaching staff is almost identical to the one that led the Texans to a 12-4, the players are different, but could the addition of Peyton Manning have made enough of a difference to turn the Houston Texans into a Super Bowl contender every year?
