What I do for 610: Tap Houston blog writer
Birthday: Feb. 24
Facebook: Tap Houston
Nickname: “Britt” My real name sucks!
Hometown: Houston, TX
College: Gracie University – “Keep it real”
High school: Mayde Creek HS (Katy)
How long at SportsRadio 610: Since June, 2012
Coolest person at SR610: Seth’s dark side. He may look like Andy Bernard on roids, but he’s Joe Rogan-funny.
What I love about Houston: I love that our fair city is big, small town filled with culture and history…and that it’s not Dallas!
Favorite four-letter word: If you’re 18 and over, YouTube “Bobby Knight Explains His Favorite Word” and I’ll let you do the math.
Favorite people to interview: Manti T’eo’s girlfriend
Experience: As far as MMA is concerned, I’ve trained in Gracie Jiu Jitsu and MMA for several years with top-level guys around the country including several UFC Champions and fighters, as well as, BJJ World Champions. When it comes to Craft Beer, my passion for exploring every style of beer has educated me in all aspects of the brewing process and why beers look and taste the way they do. Making friends with head brewers, brewery owners, bar owners, and award-winning brewers is an educational experience!
Teams followed: I do miss my Oilers, but I’m a die-hard Texans fan. I’m also a Fantasy Football dork so I follow the entire NFL too. Then there’s Johnny Football and company, GIG’EM!
Signature phrases: You know how Jack Bauer used to say, “D@MM!T” a lot? Well, see my answer for “Favorite Four-Letter Word”.
Favorite sports experiences: Royce Gracie personally promoting me to blue belt a couple years ago (see my thumbnail; My wife surprising me with trip to Vegas to watch UFC 126 at Mandalay Bay on Super Bowl Weekend (got to meet/train with a bunch of fighters/legends); Going to Oilers vs. Jets playoff game in ’91 in The Dome; First Texans playoff game at reliant. That atmosphere was unbelievable!; Playing in a HS basketball game at The Summit. Sitting courtside at a Rockets vs. Bobcats came and being threatened by Tim Donaghy for heckling him after a series of blatantly bad calls – I feel like a part of sports history!
Sports played: Football, Baseball, Basketball from little league thru HS. Most recently I’ve competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments around the Texas.
Family: I’m the only guy in my home – my wife, baby daughter and two female American Eskimos keep me busy.
More: I have only of the weirdest lives (not in a good way) you’ll never hear about. That’s why I’m trying to get a bill passed thru Congress to change “Murphy’s Law” to “Hoffmann’s Law”. I’m “that parent” that posts photos of their kid on FB too much but I don’t care…she’s friggin’ cute! I geek out over MMA, Jui Jitsu, and Craft Beer. I have a very sad weakness for reality TV train wrecks. I’m a major foodie and love to cook. I’m a 2 time cancer survivor and I married way over my head.
I keep reliving that day. A dream that never ends. Every smell, every sound, every movement, forever, just burned in my memory. I was surrounded. My fingers were trembling. I tried to control my breath. This is where my training is supposed to kick in. This is when I’m supposed to burry my fear. This is where my hate becomes my friend.
Legacy Fighting Championship 21 lived up to it’s billing of the most exciting Legacy card of the year last Friday night at Houston Arena Theatre.
Friday July 19th looks to be the most exciting Legacy Fighting Championships card of 2013! Two long awaited and highly anticipated championship fights highlight the event at Houston Arena Theatre broadcasted live (main card) on AXS TV at 9PM CT.
To remind me of my high and mighty craft brew dork attitude, my wife tagged me on a link on Facebook about the nerdy stuff beer geeks say which I found hilarious because it’s true, but at least I’ll own it.
History was made this weekend in Las Vegas MGM Grand. A new king crowned UFC Middleweight Champion of the World leaving the 38-year-old Silva pondering his future.
Let us all salute the spirit of America by drinking quality, hand-crafted beer your Houstonian neighbors put their heart and soul into.
Both men are highly skilled and regarded black belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Watching this fight was a joy if you are a BJJ fan and have an understanding of the beauty of the technique both men utilized in this fight. The first round was some of the most fluid and technical jiu jitsu I’ve seen in an MMA bout in quite awhile!
May 31, 2013 Legacy Fighting Championships expands it’s Texas footprint by debuting their first fight card ever in Corpus Christi, TX at American Bank Center which can be seen live on AXS TV.
Karbach aims to create their own state of mind as this brew is designed for one thing…pure enjoyment. They’ve certainly captured the feel of summer in a can.
“Hell, anyone can make a ‘Belly Button Lint IPA’ but who’s gonna drink it if you’re the only one that likes it?” But the brewery isn’t just about the beer. Texian is built for community.
