University of Houston Professor Dr. Wayne Winston joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to talk about using analytics in determining which players would be a good fit for the Rockets as the trade deadline approaches. Dr. Winston places a special emphasis on statistical analysis in determining the worth of Rockets players on the court and in trades.
Dane Brugler talked to Ted and Brien about Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles athletic abilities. He also commented on Bill O’Brien future with the Houston Texans. He also gave good information about Houston Texans draft pick for the upcoming season.
Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to discuss his connections to Johnny Manziel and the Texans first round draft pick. He also discussed his experiences coaching at Texas Tech and A&M before that. Kingsbury insists that Manziel is worth a number one pick because he’s a very dynamic and talented quarterback.
ESPN NFL writer Kevin Seifert joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to discuss quarterbacks in the draft. He talked about the possible benefits of waiting later in the draft for a QB. He speculated on who the Texans might want to take with their first pick. Seifert says a lot may change on who will be picked depending on performances in the Combine.
Andre Williams joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to talk about how mentally and physically he’s ready for the 2014 combine. Andre also stated that Adrian Petterson was one of his role models in the NFL. Developing his own run game is his main focus for his career. Williams stated that he will love to play with the Texans.
Matt Chatum joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to talk football with the guys. He gave his perspective on Romeo Crennel from working with him in the past. Chatum also talked about possible changes that might be made to the Texans defense moving forward. He also gave his take on Bill O’Brien as a coach.
Shawn Zobel, draftheadquarters.com, joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to talk about the up coming draft. He explained why he thinks the Texans will pick Johnny Manziel with their first round pick. Zobel insists Manziel is a can’t miss quarterback. He is however not sold on Clowney’s talent.
Eddie George joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to talk about football and life. Ted and Eddie related on post NFL career troubles they have overcome. George overcame his post NFL depression through his new found love of acting. He talked about that football players need to develop more skills after playing because a lot of the time they aren’t prepared for what to do afterwards.
Russell Baxter joined Ted Johnson and Brien Straw to discuss football stats with the guys. He talked about the numbers of why defensive teams win out over offensive teams. Baxter talked about all the things that lead to the Seahawks blowing out the Broncos in the Super Bowl. He also talked about how the Texans can emulate the success the Seahawks has had moving forward especially with regards to their draft picks.
