Astros Lineup Goes Cold

Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Astros lineup went cold Saturday afternoon against Indians starter Mike Clevinger. He would take a no-hit bid into the seventh inning before Astros second-baseman Jose Altuve could break through with a single. However, the rest of the lineup only came up with two more hits and the Astros fell by a final score of 3-0.

“He obviously did a good job of doing a lot of things, we had a lot of swings and misses today. We had a lot of balls on the ground, we didn’t really hit a ton of balls hard most of the game. So obviously he was doing a lot… He had a little bit of everything but we couldn’t solve him,” Houston Manager A.J. Hinch said about Cleveland starter Mike Clevinger.

Houston starter Mike Fiers had one of this best outings of the year going six complete, allowing six hits and one earned run. Five of the six hits were singles, the other was a home run. Fiers has struggled giving up the long ball this season, leading the league in home runs allowed with seventeen.

“Overall I felt great… Just able to limit the damage and give our team a chance to win. 9 times out of 10 we’re going to pull out those games. Three runs, I think this team usually scores more than that,” Mike said.

The Astros have not been swept yet this season but are at risk. Tomorrow it will be up to Joe Musgrove to right the ship for Houston. Despite Cleveland’s (22-19) record, they still are quite a team to handle.

“Both of these teams are pretty good. They’ve been a tough matchup for us… I think when either team gets the lead there’s a sense of pressure that the end of the game is coming,” Hinch said.
