Miami (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Astros continued a dominant run in the early part of the season with a 3-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday on the heels of another shutout performance by Lance McCullers.
McCullers went 6 innings giving up just three hits and two walks while striking out three to lead the Astros to a league-best 29-12 record and a sweep of the Marlins.
Jose Altuve started the Astros off with a RBI double in the first inning. George Springer added two more runs with a single in the 6th inning that was enough for the Astros to take the game.
The performance from McCullers was his third straight outing with at least six innings pitched while giving up zero earned runs. That hasn’t been done by an Astros pitcher since Roger Clemens did it four times in 2005.
The Astros are off tomorrow night, but start a series with the Cleveland Indians at Minute Maid Park on Friday. The Astros have won 14 of their last 17 games.
